Reduction in Theft Offences March 2026 |
||
|
Nottingham City West Officers from the Bilborough Neighbourhoods Policing Team have noticed a 50% reduction in theft offences across the Denewood Area for March 2026 in comparison to February 2026 and an 80% reduction from the same month last year (2025).
Theft prevention is mostly about reducing opportunity, increasing visibility, and making your property less attractive or accessible. Here’s some practical, no-nonsense advice you can actually use:
-Start with awareness. Most theft happens because something is easy to take—unlocked doors, unattended items, predictable routines. Get into the habit of checking your surroundings and not leaving valuables exposed, especially in public or in your car. -Secure your home properly. Lock doors and windows even when you’re in, and don’t rely on just one lock. If possible, install motion lights and a visible alarm system—these alone can deter opportunistic thieves. If you’re away, use timers on lights so the house doesn’t look empty. -Be smart with valuables. Don’t leave phones, bags, tools, or laptops in plain sight—whether that’s in your car, at work, or in a café. At home, consider keeping high-value items out of view from windows.
Use layers of security. For example: Finally if you notice anything suspicious or witness an incident take place actively report the matter by calling 101, 999 in an emergency or if the suspect is still on scene. You can even report anonymously via Crime Stoppers by calling 0800 555 111 or visiting the CrimeStoppers website.
